YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT MINISTRIES
“The right training of youth is likened to the training of Olympic victors. Fathers who bring up their children in the proper way are builders of temples in which Christ dwells and are the guardians of heavenly athletes. If a man trains his boy correctly, and the boy trains his son correctly, and so on, the succession of Good Christians will be like a golden chain.” – St. John Chrysostom
JOY
Not quite ready for GOYA? If you are between five and twelve years old, The Junior Orthodox Youth (JOY) is the ministry for you! This group meets monthly to learn about our Faith through play, and also for fellowship time for their parents. Children in third grade and older are eligible to attend the Metropolis of Pittsburgh summer camp on the designated “JOY” weeks.
GOYA
Are you between thirteen and eighteen, or in seventh through twelfth grade? Then GOYA is for you. The Greek Orthodox Youth of America (GOYA) meets monthly for a fireside chat, and also various times throughout the year. The GOYA plans activities that build friendships and nurture the mind, body and soul, including popular favorites such as trips to amusement parks and lock-ins. GOYAns from Akron often participate in activities on the Metropolis and Archdiocese levels, such as summer camp, spring and fall retreats, athletics, the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival and Ionian Village, as well as serving our neighbors through preparing meals for the homeless and assisting with the needs of the community as requested. Please join us to find out what other fun activities we have coming up!
OCF CAMPUS MINISTRY
Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) is the official collegiate campus ministry program under the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America. OCF transforms the lives of college students in the United States and Canada by guiding them along the path to Jesus Christ through His Church, cultivating a campus community of worship, witness, service, fellowship and education.

The vision of the Orthodox Christian Fellowship is:
-
To be the loving presence of Christ and the Orthodox Church on college campuses;
-
To be an integral part of students’ spiritual formation by challenging them to explore the Faith; and
-
To inspire students to commit to living an Orthodox Christian way of life daily.
Our North American Office is located in Brookline, Massachusetts on the campus of
Hellenic College/Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.

The University of Akron Chapter meets biweekly at Annunciation under the chaplaincy of Fr. Nick. This chapter also opens it’s doors to any and all Kent State Students. Meetings usually last about an hour and consist of theological discussion with a guest speaker and dinner.
